Parking for Upper House

Instead of driving to Upper House, consider taking the bus. Upper House is located close to Madison Metro Transit bus stops on nearby W. Johnson Street and University Avenue. Please follow these links for planning your route and your fare. It’s a short walk to Upper House from the following bus stops. 

For Eastbound, Southbound, and Northbound routes, guests should use Stop 0455 (W Johnson at N Park). 

From Stop 0455, walk east on W. Johnson Street to the East Campus Mall crosswalk. Turn and walk north on East Campus Mall (walk toward the Walgreens). The Upper House entrance is on East Campus Mall (on your right).

For Westbound routes, guests should use Stop 0765 (N Lake at University).

To get to Upper House from Stop 0765, cross N. Lake Street and walk west on University Avenue one block to East Campus Mall. Go south on East Campus Mall (turn left at Valentia Coffee). The Upper House entrance is on East Campus Mall (on your left).

Street Parking

Meters located on City streets are enforced from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday through Saturday. Be aware that some meters have special restrictions such as "No Stopping, Standing or Parking" during stated hours of peak traffic.

Street meters are also "smart meters" that allow you to pay for parking from your phone via a mobile app.

University Square Parking Garage | 332 N. Lake St.

This parking garage is located underneath Upper House. It is the most convenient, but it is also the most expensive.

Entrance is on the west side of Lake Street, between University Avenue and West Johnson Street. Take the Milio’s elevator (behind the red cement block on the northwest side of the parking deck) to the second floor. Guests may be able to receive a 50% discount on parking in this garage on non-Kohl Center game and activities. Bring your parking ticket into Upper House for discount validation.

Southeast Campus Ramp | 301 N. Lake St.

This parking garage is located across the street from Upper House.

Entrance is on east side of N. Lake Street between University Avenue and W. Johnson Street. After parking, cross N. Lake Street and walk south on N. Lake. Turn right onto W. Johnson Street and walk one block west to East Campus Mall. Go north on East Campus Mall (turn right at Walgreen’s). The Upper House entrance is on East Campus Mall (on your right).

State Street Campus Garage | 412 N. Frances Street

The entrance for this garage is on the west side of Frances Street.

Though the State Street Campus Garage is under construction, parking is still accessible via the Frances Street entrance. After parking, walk south on N. Frances Street. Turn right on University Avenue. Walk two blocks to the light at East Campus Mall (near Chazen Museum). Cross University at the crosswalk, going south. Continue south and enter Upper House on your left. (If you reach Walgreens, you have gone too far.)
